The Story Continues...
Wimberley, The Story Capital of Texas...
Wimberley, The Story Capital of Texas...
Wimberley StoryFest 2022 was a rousing success and has laid the groundwork for Wimberley StoryFest 2023. Now, a dynamic team, made up of creative professionals has a new vision for 2023…and its BIG! Join us for our opening Gala event on January 12, 2023, where we'll feature every form of story; visual, performing, culinary and literary.
Why a new direction?
What are the advantages?
How will it happen?
Our plan is to secure an actual physical space to serve as ‘StoryFest Headquarters’.
Why a new direction?
- Following StoryFest 2022 we had a gratifying outreach of artists, donors, sponsors and new patrons wanting to participate in future events and to enlarge the concept.
- We began to think about how to support and access all the various forms of art and their stories in an on-going way: Literary Arts; Performing Arts; Visual Arts; Culinary Arts.
- We began to imagine a whole series of events, spread out over the year, that would support every form of art and story.
What are the advantages?
- Spreading StoryFest events across the entire year allows for significant funding opportunities, venue interests, and artist availabilities that makes this approach compelling.
- Funds for the ‘arts’ become more readily available when events bring tourists to town and especially when visiting tourists stay in Wimberley overnight.
- Having some events scheduled in mid-week supports additional and more manageable tourism (as opposed to having every event on a weekend...)
- Lodging owners are getting on-board to partner with StoryFest to provide discounts for lodging and dining for events scheduled during the week.
- Positioning StoryFest in this on-going way… ‘makes StoryFest a part of people’s lives and part of life in Wimberley’.
- This approach moves the needle in a significant way towards establishing Wimberley as…. ‘The Story Capital of Texas’.
How will it happen?
- Our approach is to create a small ‘action committee’ for each element of the arts, and to establish a much broader ‘advisory group’ of experts, patrons/funding sources (including grants) to brainstorm and direct the activities.
- We'll firm up plans over the next few months and will be ready to launch the series of expanded and on-going ‘StoryFest’ events in early 2023 with a major kick-off gala event scheduled for January12, 2023. Stay tuned.
