Wimberley StoryFest 2023 Kick-Off Event:

‘Once Upon a Time’… where stories began

Thursday, January 12, 2023
Old Glory Ranch
5:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Join us for an evening devoted to:

*An exploration of how stories began
*Delectable farm-to-table culinary offerings each paired with a different exquisite wine provided by Jaclynn Renee Wines
*Inspiring music by Dirje Childs to set the tone for the evening
*W.F. Strong (creator of the NPR podcast ‘Stories from Texas’) will be our narrator, crafting the ‘story’ of the evening and hosting a few additional inspiring story tellers.
*John Bucher (mythologist, storyteller, and writer who serves as Creative Director for the Joseph Campbell Foundation) will inform us about myths and the meaning behind man's earliest stories.

*A juried art show and silent auction, connected to the theme of the evening, with work featuring amazing local artists
*A star party complete with telescopes for views of the night sky above Wimberley -
courtesy of the International Dark Sky Association.

The centerpiece for the evening will be the

Exclusive work-in-progress screening of the Elizabeth Buckley documentary film:

‘The Stars at Night’

The film features: the connection between the night sky and mythology; astronomy;
ancient legends;
and Native-American stories…
plus… a segment on a resolute band of graduate film students on a
search through the Texas hill country to find the perfect spot for a view of the Milky Way

Following this preview screening, right here in Wimberley, there are plans in development to showcase the film in international film festivals and 63 national parks around the country.
